Are you familiar with the $20 bill trick in Las Vegas?
Supposedly if you slip the front desk $20, you could get an upgraded room. I researched this before our trip and thought I would give it a try.
We were staying at the Palazzo and I had read about people having success at this hotel. Matter of fact, the web site I found, showed Palazzo was one of the top hotels where it worked. I figured I would try it when checking in, as the most I would lose is $20.
Upon arriving at Palazzo, there not many people checking in as we got there around 2. I got in line and J waited with the luggage on the side. I got a nice young man who proceeded to check me in. When he asked for my driver’s license and credit card, I was prepared in advance and slipped the folded $20 between the cards and asked if he any complimentary upgrades. The key is to ask for complimentary upgrades.
After a couple minutes of keying into his computer, he said he had rooms available and gave us a high floor with a gorgeous view of the strip in the best tower. I thanked him and was on my way.
When we went to the elevators, we found that there was a separate set of elevators for Floors 37-50. This really saved us time, as we never waited long for an elevator and didn’t have to stop at multiple floors before we reached our floor 39.
Upon entering room 39706, it was a Luxury Suite which consisted of 720 square feet of living space that looked like the pictures we saw on line. Besides the king size bed, there was a sunken living room with a huge window.
J immediately went to the window to see our view. The $20 trick got us an impressive outlook of the strip, complimentary coffee/tea and a newspaper every day from the store on Level 2. There are no coffee makers in the room, which means someone has to get dressed to go down for the coffee in the morning.
The view of the strip was worth the $20 with this dazzling view.
Our view at night was even more incredible.
