When Exploring Los Angeles area, spending some time at the Getty Villa should be on your list of sites to visit.
As we drove down the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, the Getty Villa sets up on the hill with a beautiful view overlooking the pacific.
We ordered our tickets on-line the day before and had no problem getting a specific time to take the tour. The tickets for the Villa are free, but you pay $15 for parking. The Getty Villa is only accessible from the northbound lane of the Pacific Coast Highway. Upon arriving at the gate, we used our cell phone to show our receipt.
The museum houses a collection of Greek/Roman artifact. My favorite part was the outside gardens, which were stunning.
Our next stop was the Farmers Market for lunch. Parking is limited and we had to wait for someone to leave to get a parking spot. We walked around the market before deciding what to have for lunch.
Exploring Los Angeles
After lunch we drove over to The Grove, which was close by. Parking for The Grove is in a multi-level parking garage. As we entered the garage, a board showed what level parking spots were available along with the space number.
Before leaving your car, take your parking ticket with you as you can have it validated if you make a purchase at The Grove. There are cobblestone streets, a water fountain and a trolley that takes you from one end to another.
It’s a beautiful outdoor mall, with a mixture of high end shops, Barnes and Noble bookstore, movie theatre, and a variety of places to eat. You can easily spend several hours wondering in and out of the stores.
After shopping, we made our way to the Palomar Kimpton Hotel where we spent the night and celebrated J’s birthday.
This boutique hotel is located in the Beverly Hills area.
I enjoyed the comfy robes they provided.
A nice surprise for J’s birthday.
The hotel hosts a free wine hour every evening, which is not to be missed. If you ever stay at a Kimpton Hotel, sign up for the Kimpton Loyalty Program and receive free Wi-Fi on all your devices, a $10 mini bar credit and exclusive offers for members.
The hotel offers free complimentary bikes to check out through the front desk which we did not have time to use. There are many great restaurants within walking distance of this hotel.
We attended the wine hour and enjoyed talking to other guests who were staying at the hotel before heading out for dinner.
Santa Monica, Hollywood, Rodeo Drive are all nearby and we would be exploring those areas tomorrow.
