Hiking Vernazza to Corniglia resumed after eating lunch and exploring Vernazza.
We were rested and ready for the next 1.2 miles. Even though it says it should take about 1 hour and 15 minutes, it took us closer to 2 hours. That is because we were constantly stopping to take pictures. The afternoon hike was much busier than the morning hike, with more people on the trail.
We started the hike with the view of Vernazza. If you want to just get pictures of the town you can hike up here without paying to go on the trail. This is a spectacular view of the town of Vernazza.
After passing these stunning views of Vernazza, the actual trail begins. We stopped and showed our pass before moving on. We don’t get very far on the trail before we run into more steps.
The views were never ending as we made our way to Corniglia. There is not much shade on this part of the walk. Again, take plenty of water as it got really hot.
The trail makes an incline up the hill.
Evidently we see Corniglia in the distance. But we still had a long hike ahead with more steps before reaching Corniglia.
There is a path to hike to the beach from this trail. But I could not imagine hiking back up the side of the hill, just to go to the beach. But there were people on the beach below. They have more energy than I do.
Evidently we arrived in Corniglia at the town center.
We walked around Corniglia and took more great pictures.
There were plenty of places to eat, or just sit and have a drink.
We took the stairs up past the church (in the above picture) and found the following views. We could see Manarola in the distance.
It had been a long day, Hiking Vernazza to Corniglia and Monterosso to Vernazza. I was ready to go back to our place and relax for the evening with a nice bottle of local wine.
