If your home base in Switzerland is Wengen and the weather is nice, you can spend the day just roaming the town and exploring what it has to offer.
Hiking Wengen Switzerland
Wengen is in a plateau position between the valley floor of Lautherbrunnen and the sheer mountain cliffs going up on the other side.
Not all of our hikes were grueling all day affairs. One day we were able to take a hike around Wengen in the late afternoon. Most days we left due to rain or cloudy weather. That afternoon it cleared out making it a perfect time to see more of the town. It was an easy stroll with gorgeous scenery. This is a hike you could take a stroller if you had young children.
There are signs along the path to show you how long it would take to reach a destination.
We saw goats, cows and chickens along the way.
Benches to enjoy the views
There were even benches to enjoy the scenic vistas overlooking Lauterbrunnen and Murran.
If you stay in Wengen, make sure to try some of the trails, the views of the mountains and valley of Lauterbrunnen are breathtaking.
Our stay in Wengen was plagued with clouds and rain. We made the most of our time by taking the train and exploring other towns. If you are planning a trip to Switzerland, know that the weather can change quickly and be prepared.
