Our last stop on this cruise was Cozumel, Mexico.
The Carnival Freedom was coming in when we got off the ship.
When you have two ships parked with a pier separating them, you can see how massive these ships are.
We got lucky as the ship docked at the port closer to town. Which made it great for walking around.
We passed plenty of shops before we even got down to the street. Getting off the ship early helped, as it was not so crowded. That would change later as there would be six ships in port.
They sell vanilla in Mexico and we picked up a couple more bottles. The shop we found a good deal was buy two bottles get one free. It was the only shop that offered this. These bottles came with a vanilla bean. It makes a great gift to take back. Good thing we did not fly or I would not be able to buy all of these bottles of vanilla. I should have enough vanilla to last awhile. lol
TIP: The further away you get from the cruise port the better the prices. I put this on my credit card and advised them to charge in pesos. The conversion by the credit card company made it cheaper than if I would have paid them in dollars.
Finally we made it to street level and started walking.
Turning down a side street, we found a park which has this sign and of course more stores to shop. There are also benches to sit and relax.
The entrance to the ferry was decorated for Christmas.
We stopped at a Starbucks and got a drink. We wanted to sit for awhile and use their internet before returning to the ship. It was very slow, but we got to send some emails.
It was getting crowded and we decided to head back to the cruise ship to have lunch and lay around by the pool for the rest of the day. Port days are a great day to spend the day by the pool.
What do you do when you port in Cozumel?
