If you are looking for a place to park your car while taking a cruise out of the Tampa for a week, then Marriott Springhill Suites is the place to stay.
We drove to Tampa and spent the night at the Springhill Suites Tampa Westshore Airport location before boarding our cruise the next day. We booked the cruise and stay package allowing us to leave our car in the parking lot during the cruise.
The hotel is located on Cypress Street, only a couple of blocks from the International Plaza. This is a huge mall with an Apple Store, Nordstorms, Louis Vuitton, etc. You could spend hours in this mall.
Even though we arrived at the hotel early (around 10 a.m.) they let us check in. What great service.
We were given a large room with a separate sitting area, a sink, microwave and small refrigerator.
A king size bed and bathroom with the large sink outside of the bathroom rounded out the room.
Breakfast was included with our rate and there was plenty of places to sit and read the paper or watch the multiple TVs located around the room.
We used the gym both days of our stay. Even though it was small, it served the purpose and we were the only ones using the equipment.
Coming from the cold weather we enjoyed laying around the pool that afternoon and soaking in the sun. We had the whole place to ourselves.
Later that afternoon, we went to Wrights Gourmet House. This was listed as number 1 on Trip Advisor and I can see why. There was a line when we got there but it moved fast. We took our delicious sandwiches and ice tea outside and enjoyed the afternoon sun. We really could have gotten one sandwich and split. The sandwiches were huge. We took left overs back to the room to eat later.
The only down side of our stay, was the shuttle was not included in the price. We did not find this out until he picked us up. It would not have been a big deal but the shuttle was fifteen minutes late. He charged $14 and really tried to pressure us into paying for a round trip ($28). I advised him I would be using Uber and he got an attitude with us, telling us they are not a service. I might have used him on the return but with being late and the high sales pressure, I was not impressed and was glad I used Uber on our return.
When we got off the ship and called Uber, they were there within three minutes and we were back to our hotel in ten minutes only costing us $9 including tip.
If we ever cruise out of Tampa again, I would definitely use this hotel, but use Uber to get to the port.
