When looking for places to stay in Positano Italy, we were not looking to break our budget and lucky for us we found Pensione Maria Luisa.
If you are looking for a fancy place, this would not be for you. But if you are looking for a place that treats you like family, then check out Pensione Maria Luisa.
In order to get to Pensione Maria Luisa it involved a long walk up the hill after arriving by ferry at the marina.
When arriving by ferry, there is not an easy way to get up the hill besides walking. There is a bus stop located part way up the hill that circles Positano. It takes awhile to reach the bus stop. In looking at the map, the bus would take us out of our way, we decided it was just as easy to walk to our hotel. Eventually we could see the name of our hotel in the distance. It was located down a long alleyway with a few more stairs. If you have luggage be prepared to carry it yourself.

When we arrived, Carlos, the owner, greeted us like family. We were early, but that was not a problem. He showed us to Room 6, an upgraded room with a view. The room was located down a separate hallway, which helped keep the noise down from people going to the breakfast room.
The space was clean and large with plenty of room for the two beds. The room included a safe, refrigerator and air conditioning.
The bathroom was long and narrow. No wash clothes, soap or shampoo was provided, but we knew this ahead of time and brought our own. The towels were not the best, but we read about this online. For the price we paid with this beautiful view of Positano, and Carlos hospitality during our stay, we were happy with our accommodations. If you are looking for a fancy place, this is not the place, but if you are looking to be treated like family, you will enjoy your stay.
The view of Positano was the best part of our room. We would eat breakfast in the morning admiring the spectacular vista. This is why you come to Positano.
The common area provided a microwave, refrigerator, utensils, for your use. We used the wine glasses and cork screw to have a bottle of wine in our room in the evenings.
Carlos recommended places to eat in the area, and a grocery store down the street to pick up supplies and fresh sandwiches.
We stopped and purchased two bunches of grapes for 2 Euros from the man selling fruit out of his truck. He threw in an extra bunch. These were the best grapes I have ever had. Fruit in Italy was really fresh and tasty.
One morning we had breakfast on the upstairs terrace. We had the place all to ourselves.
The views were even better than our room. I would never get tired of looking at these views.
The Pensione Maria Luisa is not fancy, but provided the basics along with free Wi-Fi at a reasonable rate for Positano. Carlos was the perfect host during our stay. Be prepared to walk everywhere as Positano is a walking town on the hill with lots of steps. I would definitely stay here again when I return.
